The František Křižík Award of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia is a distinction granted for an extraordinary lifelong contribution to the field of electrical engineering. Through this award, the Faculty emphasizes the importance of technical sciences and their impact on society.

The award includes a statuette named Electra, artistically crafted by Pilsen-based sculptor František Bálek, symbolizing the connection between technology and creative spirit.

The award was introduced during a ceremonial session of the Scientific Board marking the 50th anniversary of the Faculty’s founding in 2011 and was first presented in April 2012. Since then, it has been awarded to prominent individuals whose professional careers are closely tied to research, education, and expert work in the field of electrical engineering.

Among the laureates are also the Chairwoman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety Dana Drábová, or distinguished academic personalities Professor Lumír Kule, and Professor Daniel Mayer.

The award is granted selectively in cases where high professional and ethical standards are met, thereby maintaining its dignity and prestige.
