Are you interested in what it is like to study at FEL? Come and see us in our chill-out zone on the 2nd floor! You will find a pleasant environment where you can have a snack, chat informally with us students and find out everything you are interested in studying. Plus, we've prepared a fun fill-in game for you - there's a reward for completing it and a chance to win cool prizes. Come and take a look and soak up the atmosphere of FEL!
Lectures
Do not miss this unique opportunity to listen to expert lectures on interesting and topical topics.
The lectures will be presented in Czech only.
9:30–10:00 – Rock’n’Code: A Robotic Band and Its Secret DNA (Ing. Petr Stašek)
Step behind the scenes of a unique robotic music ensemble developed at UWB. The lecture shows how classical musical instruments are transformed into precisely controlled mechatronic systems and how their actuators convert musical structures into coordinated mechanical motion. You will also learn how individual control modules communicate with each other and what is required for a robot to “play” accurately, rhythmically, and reliably. The talk offers a technical insight into how modern technologies open up new and unexpected possibilities in music creation and performance.
10:30–11:00 – The Power of Algorithms: Modelling, AI, and Industrial Informatics in Practice (Assoc. Prof. Václav Kotlan, Prof. Pavel Karban)
This lecture introduces how mathematical models and intelligent algorithms help solve real-world engineering problems. You will learn the basics of machine learning, optimisation, and simulation, and how these methods are applied in modern industry—from manufacturing to autonomous systems. Practical examples will show that algorithms are not abstract theory, but powerful tools that are changing the world around us.
11:00–11:30 – Wireless Power Transfer: Nikola Tesla’s Dream Fulfilled (Assoc. Prof. Vladimír Kindl)
The lecture takes you through the history and present of wireless power transfer technology, which is becoming increasingly widespread in many fields. You will learn about the principles behind wireless energy transfer, its advantages and risks, current applications, and the directions in which future development may lead.
11:30–12:00 – Formula Student (Petra Vinšová, Michal Drahokoupil)
Find out how the university-wide student Formula team “UWB eRacing Team Pilsen” operates, how demanding it is to design and build an electric formula car according to international regulations, and how to prepare it for competitions. We will present what components are designed and manufactured for the car and how you can get involved in the team. We will also evaluate the past season—the first with electric propulsion—and the experience gained for building a new, faster formula car, building on the successes of the previous combustion-engine era.
12:30–13:00 – Small Modular Reactors: The Future of Energy Within Reach (Ing. Tomáš Peltan)
What will the energy sector of the future look like? Large power plants are gradually giving way to solutions that are more efficient, safer, and more flexible. Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) represent a revolution in nuclear energy. Are smaller power plants better suited for the modern world? What advantages and disadvantages do they bring? Come and learn about our TEPLATOR project—a unique modular reactor being developed at FEL UWB.
Where: auditorium EP 110
Student projects
What are our students working on? What are the conditions and support for this? How do they choose their topics, and how do they enjoy working on their projects?
Find out about this and much more in the Student Projects Exhibition! You have a unique chance to see what our students are working on and ask their creators anything that interests you. Our students will be available for your questions and will be happy to share their experience and enthusiasm for electrical engineering with you. We hope that our student projects will inspire you to study further and explore new possibilities!
